Where we stayed:  Dilli Village & Waddy Point

We went to Fraser with a group of friends.  The first night we met in Ballina for an overnight stop before heading further north to Standown Caravan Park which is between Gympie and Tin Can Bay for the night before jumping on board the barge at Inskip Point the next day.

Once off the barge it was up to Dilli Village where we set up camp for a few days so we could day trip around the southern part of the Island. Eurong, Lake Birrabeen, Eli Creek, Maheno Shipwreck were all places on our list of things to see.  As well as sight seeing we did a fair bit of swimming and fishing too!

For the remainder of our days we camped at Waddy Point on the north of the Island and explored Indian Head, Champagne Pools and Sandy Cape and had a afternoon swim at the lagoon out the front of the campsite each afternoon.

Our time on Fraser Island was fantastic and it will definitely be a place to come back to.

There were a few dingoes around although both campsites we stayed at had fencing all around them.  On the beach one afternoon we had a very friendly dingo checking out the fish we caught and Tyler kept saying “hello puppy”.  We quickly told him that we didn’t need to pat this puppy!!

Where we stayed:  Gateway Lifestyle Van Park

After leaving Fraser, we based ourselves in Marchooydore for six days of nothing but family time!!  We took the kids to Australia Zoo. It was fantastic, by far the best zoo we have been to, it is very interactive!

Our last night on the road was at Gumma Reserve just near Macksville in NSW before heading home to unpack and plan another trip!
