In the late 1930's Glen Davis was in the centre of the Shale Oil Industry, now it is somewhat of a ghost town. The Capertee Valley is definitely worth a visit with its stunning scenery provided by towering sandstone cliffs in every direction you look. The small township of Bylong has a great low cost campground available to travellers. We just stopped in for a quick travel break on our way to Glen Davis, however, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here on a future trip. WHERE IS IT? The Junction is a beautiful quiet free camp on the Abercrombie River. There are spots right on the river to camp or a larger area on the way in that has plenty of space. Abercrombie Caves is only 10 minutes north and worth a look! WHERE IS IT? Tuena, NSW CAMP FEES FREE!!! A beautiful campground on the banks of the Capertee River, although very dry at the moment! Coorongooba Campground is surrounded by impressive sandstone cliffs, has an abundance of wildlife and with no phone service you feel a million miles from anywhere! In periods of wet weather there is a river crossing to get to the campground. WHERE IS IT?
