In the late 1930's Glen Davis was in the centre of the Shale Oil Industry, now it is somewhat of a ghost town. The Capertee Valley is definitely worth a visit with its stunning scenery provided by towering sandstone cliffs in every direction you look. The small township of Bylong has a great low cost campground available to travellers. We just stopped in for a quick travel break on our way to Glen Davis, however, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here on a future trip. WHERE IS IT? The Junction is a beautiful quiet free camp on the Abercrombie River. There are spots right on the river to camp or a larger area on the way in that has plenty of space. The Silos in Portland are officially named "The Foundations".
