Chasing Waterfalls along the WATERFALL WAY (NSW)

THE WATERFALL WAY

Spectacular scenery, stunning waterfalls and lush rainforest walks make up the 185km stretch of road from Armidale to the coast. The Waterfall Way joins the Pacific Highway just near Urunga, 20km south of Coffs Harbour.

As part of a recent 10 day road trip, we made our way along the Waterfall Way and based ourselves at Ebor for a couple of days so we could chase some waterfalls!

THE FALLS

On this trip, we explored the falls and walks around the Ebor and Dorrigo area.

EBOR FALLS

Ebor Falls is only a short distance from the township of Ebor and provides spectacular views of the falls and surrounding valley.

There are two easily accessible viewing platforms and parking is located at each. If you park at either car park there is a short, and easy, walking track between the Upper and Lower Falls that takes you along the edge of the gorge.

SKYWALK LOOKOUT

The Skywalk Lookout is at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. A 50m platform stretches high over the forest floor and provides views all the way to the ocean on a clear day.

CRYSTAL SHOWER FALLS & TRISTANIA FALLS

To view Crystal Shower Falls and Tristania Falls we followed the Wonga Walk Loop which is a 6.8km trail from The Glade Picnic Area.

For a shorter walk to view only Crystal Shower Falls, you can park at The Glade Picnic Area and it is a 3.5km return walk to the falls.

There are some steeper sections on this walk but it is a well formed track and the lush rainforest is beautiful to wander through.

CRYSTAL SHOWER FALLS

TRISTANIA FALLS

DANGAR FALLS

A short 2kms from the town centre of Dorrigo you will find Dangar Falls.

There are two viewing platforms at Dangar Falls, the first being a few metres from the car park where you can look down to the falls and waterhole.

The path past the playground leads to the base of the falls and it is a beautiful view from the bottom and a good spot to cool off in the summer months!

NEWELL FALLS

Newell Falls is difficult to view whilst driving however there is a parking area to the east of the falls where you can stop to hop out to have a look.

WHERE WE STAYED

There are several camping areas along the Waterfall Way and we decided to base ourselves in Ebor and day trip to Dorrigo.

Ebor Falls is a leisurely kilometre away from the Rec Area and there is a nice easy walking track to follow to get there or you can drive to the main car park if you prefer.
