WALLAM CREEK CAMPING
Bollon is located around 630km west of Brisbane between St George and Cunnamulla. We found a fantastic free camp on the banks of Wallam Creek. I say “free” however there is a donation box next to the amenities on the main road – and well worth a donation!!
We were nearing the end of our trip and had left Cunnamulla with the thought of pulling up in St George for a few days. The little town of Bollon was on the way so we decided to call into the free camp we’d seen on WikiCamps to have a look – we didn’t get any further!!
The camping ground is right on Wallam Creek and has around a 1km stretch of unpowered parkland to set up on.
On the main road there is an amenities block with toilets and hot showers available for campers to use.
There is a concrete walkway that stretches the length of the camping ground and continues up to main street in Bollon.
The camping ground gets quite busy by mid afternoon. There was probably around 50 campers each night however there is ample room.
We also caught a good amount of yabbies while we were there and we visited Deb’s Café in the main street for some hot chips to go with our catch!
We wish this spot was closer to home, we’d be there all the time!!
Be sure to check it out if you are travelling through Outback Queensland!
