Bollon is located around 600km west of Brisbane between St George and Cunnamulla. We found a fantastic free camp on the banks of Wallam Creek. I say “free” however there is a donation box next to the amenities on the main road near the cemetery – and well worth a donation!!
We were nearing the end of one of our trips and had left Cunnamulla with the thought of pulling up in St George for a few days. The little town of Bollon was on the way so we decided to call into the free camp we’d seen on WikiCamps to have a look – we didn’t get any further!!
THE CAMPGROUND
- Large area, 1.5km stretch along the creek.
- Campsites are on the banks of Wallam Creek.
- Access to hot showers and toilets in the main street.
- No power.
- Water available.
- Campfires allowed.
- Peaceful setting.
The camping ground gets quite busy by mid afternoon. There was probably around 50 campers each night, however, there is ample room.
There is a concrete walkway that stretches the length of the camping ground and continues up to main street in Bollon.
