Lake Leake – TASMANIA

We went to catch a trout and we caught a trout, three actually!! WHERE IS IT? Lake Road, Lake Leake CAMP FEES $21.00 for powered site  $10.50 for unpowered site Kids under 10 FREE! CAMPGROUND INFORMATION We stayed in what was called “the oval”.  An unpowered section about 500m from the entrance. We were not right on the lake but still had water views. Old Mac’s Farm & Fishery – LAUNCESTON, TASMANIA

We had a quick overnight stop at Old Mac’s Farm so we could visit Cataract Gorge. WHERE IS IT? Sandown Road, Norwood (near Launceston) TAS 10 mins to the centre of Launceston. 15 mins to Cataract Gorge. CAMP FEES $10 per night CAMPGROUND INFORMATION Open from October to the end of May 62 grassy sites. Drive in, pick your own site and Ian will visit you late in the afternoon. East Beach RV Park – LOW HEAD, TASMANIA

This low cost campground is at the end of the East Beach Caravan Park.  We pretty much had the place to ourselves and the kids had ample room to play cricket and ride their bikes. WHERE IS IT? Cnr East Beach Rd & Gunn Pde, Low Head, TAS Check in is at East Beach Caravan Park and you drive through the caravan park to get to the low cost area. CAMP FEES $10 per night. Derby Free Park – DERBY, TASMANIA

Tassie certainly knows how to impress with their free camping spots! Derby is very popular for mountain bike riding so this spot was quite busy as we were here in January school holidays.  We found a quiet spot up the end right on the river and had an access track to the water so we could go fishing and swimming.
